Noccalula Falls is a 90-foot waterfall located in Gadson, Alabama.
The name of the waterfall comes from the Native American legend of Princess Noccalula who fell in love with a villager. Her father banished the villager from seeing Noccalula and arranged a marriage for her. On her wedding day, she jumped to her death from the falls.
Noccalula Falls is a campground. They offer, cabins, rv spots and tent spots. This campground offers a ton of amenities including mini golf, a botanical garden, patriots park museum, pioneer village, train rides and 7 trails.
There are two ways to get to the bottom of the waterfall and behind it. The Gorge Trail is the shorter trail but requires you to climb down rocks. I labeled it moderate because it was too much for my kids to climb down.
The second trail to get to the bottom of the waterfall and behind it is called Black Creek Trail which is located near the wedding chapel and it is a 1.7 mile hike. The kids and I didn’t make it to the bottom of the falls because this was just a quick stop for us. Gerrold did take the shorter route to the bottom.
You are able to see the top Noccalula Falls from the parking lot, it is a very short walk from the parking lot. All abilities are able to see Noccalula falls.
